Antilooppi’s two solar power stations are now in operation in Suvilahti and Vallila

Antilooppi’s two new solar power stations are now in operation in Lintulahdenkuja 10 and Elimäenkatu 5. The use of solar power supports the company’s goal of achieving a completely carbon-neutral real estate portfolio by 2030. Antilooppi  is launching altogether four solar power stations in 2022.

The solar power station located at Lintulahdenkuja in Suvilahti began operating on 26 October 2022, and the station at Elimäenkatu in Vallila began operating on 2 November 2022. The new stations are a part of the long-term sustainability work done at Antilooppi with the goal of achieving a completely carbon-neutral real estate portfolio by 2030. In its sustainability strategy, the company is committed to carbon neutrality not only in terms of the energy use in the properties, but also in terms of construction.

“Our carbon neutrality roadmap guides us to invest in the use of renewable energy sources and in our own renewable energy production at our properties. The new solar power stations at Lintulahdenkuja and Elimäenkuja support our strategy and thus act as an important and concrete step towards our climate goals”, rejoices Hannamari Koivula, Head of Sustainability at Antilooppi.

In future, part of the electricity used by the properties will be produced with clean and emission-free solar power. As the energy self-sufficiency of the properties grows, the need to buy electricity from an external provider goes down. Solar power also  reduces the carbon footprint of the properties and, consequently, the effects on the environment.

The new stations are a part of the first phase of the solar power project at Antilooppi, in which four properties will get their own solar power station during 2022. The first station began operating in August in the Quartetto business park in Leppävaara at Linnoitustie 9. The stations are produced by electricity provider Helen.

The new station at Lintulahdenkuja 12 has a total of 181 solar panels with a total power output of 66.97kWp. The energy production in the first year is estimated to be around 63MWh. This is equal to the amount of annual energy consumption of approximately 43 one-room flats or to driving 250,000 kilometres with an electric car. The station at Elimäenkatu 5 has 128 solar panels with a total power output of 47.36kWp. The energy production in the first year is estimated to be around 44MWh, which is almost a fifth of the annual electricity needs of the property. This is equal to the amount of annual energy consumption of approximately 30 one-room flats or to driving 180,000 kilometres with an electric car.

In addition to solar power, actions in other climate-friendly energy solutions have also been made at Antilooppi. This year, the whole property portfolio of the company has moved to using 100% renewable electricity. Part of the properties, including Elimäenkatu 5, also use emission-free district heating, which makes them completely carbon-neutral in terms of their energy use. The energy efficiency of the properties has also been strengthened lately.

The comprehensive sustainability actions reflect Antilooppi’s strategic goal of promoting sustainability in the real estate sector among other pioneers.

“Sustainability is our value and carbon neutrality one of its most important focus points. Amidst the current climate and energy crisis, concrete environmental actions, such as energy-saving measures and investments in renewable energy, are more important than ever. We also continuously look out for new possibilities on how to utilise solar power and other  renewable forms of energy”, Koivula says.
