Antilooppi has filed a request with the City of Helsinki in order to reserve the underground area below Hakaniemi Market Square for further studies concerning an underground parking facility in line with the main principles of the current city plan.
Antilooppi aims to study the possibilities of building the parking facility and determine the right scope for the project so that the car park would contribute to the development and attractiveness of the Hakaniemi area as a place of work, a residential area and a place of business.
The current and future needs of the area, in terms of traffic and transportation, would also be explored at the same time. In addition, Antilooppi aims to identify the technical prerequisites for the car park and organise a bidding competition for the contract by 31 December 2020.
“All of this investigation work is part of the long-term plan we have launched to develop our properties in Hakaniemi. Hakaniemi will be undergoing major renewal in the next few years, and with our properties we can support the development of the entire area. Parking is an essential service for real estate users,” says Tuomas Sahi, CEO of Antilooppi.
Antilooppi owns six properties in the Hakaniemi area, with a total leasable area of approximately 70,000 square meters. The properties owned by Antilooppi are located at the following addresses: Siltasaarenkatu 6, Siltasaarenkatu 8-10, Siltasaarenkatu 12, Siltasaarenkatu 18-20, Paasivuorenkatu 3 and Paasivuorenkatu 4-6.
The Helsinki Urban Environment Committee will discuss the application in December.
