Renewable electricity for Antilooppi’s entire real estate portfolio
As part of its long-term sustainability efforts, Antilooppi has moved to using 100% renewable electricity in all its properties. As of 1 June, 2022, all of the electricity for the company’s properties will be produced using Finnish wind power. A switch to wind power is an important step in company’s roadmap towards carbon neutrality.
The electricity used is wind power of a certified origin that is produced by the electricity provider Helen at the Lakiakangas 3 wind farm in Ostrobothnia. In future, the wind farm will produce electricity for Antilooppi equal to the annual consumption of its real estate portfolio. Thus far, half of the electricity used by Antilooppi’s properties has been produced using Finnish wind power.
The full-scale implementation of emission-free wind power is in line with Antilooppi’s sustainability strategy and part of its sustainability actions that promotes the company’s goal of carbon neutrality. In addition to the company’s own sustainability goals, the change also supports the customers’ values and growing demands related to sustainability.
“We are committed to achieving carbon-neutral energy use latest by 2030, and the transition to using wind power significantly reduces our emissions and supports the realisation of this goal. In addition, we work to continuously increase our energy efficiency and the production of renewable energy. We want to provide carbon-neutral premises for our customers, who increasingly place importance on sustainability and using renewable energy sources,” says Hannamari Koivula, Head of Sustainability at Antilooppi.
Alongside purchased renewable electricity, Antilooppi is developing its local production of renewable energy through its solar power stations. Solar power stations are set to be completed for five properties during the summer: Elimäenkuja 5 in Vallila, Linnoitustie 9 in Leppävaara, Lintulahdenkuja 10 in Sörnäinen, Siltasaarenkatu 12 in Hakaniemi and Tietotie 9 in Aviapolis. Antilooppi aims at increasing own production of solar energy and is already mapping out other properties suitable for the implementation of solar power.
Sustainability is one of the core values of Antilooppi, and the current electricity-related measures help the company take yet another giant leap towards a carbon-neutral future.
“Carbon neutrality and the wellbeing of people are at the centre of our sustainability strategy. Investing in renewable energy is an important part of our sustainability efforts. As a responsible real estate owner, we bear an extensive responsibility for our actions. We carry out sustainability actions that promote wellbeing and carbon neutrality, mitigate climate change and support the sustainability goals of our customers,” says Koivula.
